Meet the Volcano Valley Dinosaurs!

All of the Volcano Valley characters are based on the real dinosaurs described below.

Anna

Anatosaurus

(pronounced uh-NAT-uh-SAWR-us)

Also known as Edmontosaurus.
A member of the duck-billed Hadrosaur family from the Cretaceous period.

Corey

Corythosaurus

(pronounced co-RITH-oh-SAWR-us)

A helmet-crested member of the Hadrosaur family from late Cretaceous period.

Cosmo

Compsognathus

(pronounced COMP-sog-NAY-thus)

The smallest known dinosaur.
It weighed about 2 kg and was the size of a turkey. From the Jurassic period.

Iggy

Iguanodon

(pronounced ig-WAHN-oh-don)

A plant-eating dinosaur with thumb spikes from the early Cretaceous period.

Patty

Apatosaurus

(pronounced uh-PAT-uh-SAWR-us)

Also known as Brontosaurus.
One of the largest dinosaurs, a sauropod from the Jurassic period.

Steggs

Stegosaurus

(pronounced STEG-oh-SAWR-us)

A plant-eating dinosaur with plates along its back and tail spikes. From the late Jurassic Period.

Terry

Pterodactyl

(pronounced ter-oh-DAK-til)

This flying reptile was a pterosaur rather than a dinosaur. From the Cretaceous period.

Tricky

Triceratops

(pronounced tri-SER-uh-tops)

A frilled ceratopsian dinosaur, that had three horns on its head. From the late Cretaceous period.

Tyro

Tyrannosaurus Rex

(pronounced tie-RAN-o-SAWR-us recks)

A huge, meat-eating theropod dinosaur from the late Cretaceous period.
