I have to admit that Fox is a little like me. I have a habit of finishing off other people's sentences. But, that's where the similarity ends. Like most men, I hate shopping for clothes!
When I first wrote this story, it had a very different ending. When Fox found out what had happened to her coat, she was angry not sad. "Honestly," she says, "you would have thought that someone would have told me!" Of course, her friends had tried to tell her. But in that version they are so fed up with her, they don't make her a new coat.
Although Penny Ives illustrated the book, I also had a crack at doing it myself using a montage technique that I was experimenting with. It involves scanning plain fabric textures into the computer and then combining them with coloured patterns to create 'virtual textiles'. Click here to see this sample illustration.
